TCI® 801000Transmission Temperature GaugeRead Instructions Completely Before You Begin Project!
We recommend that you remove your transmission pan from your transmission to install the temperature sending unit. (This would be a good time to clean or replace the transmission filter, also, you may want to consider installing a TCI® 805800 Universal Drain Plug Kit.) After you have removed and cleaned your pan you are ready to: STEEL TRANSMISSION PANS Step 1 Select a good location for Temperature Sending Unit. Step 2 Drill a 5/8" hole into the transmission pan. Step 3 Insert sending unit adapter (If it doesn't fit easily, use a rat tail file to enlarge the hole.) Step 4 Clean transmission pan of any metal shavings. Step 5 Insert Sending Unit Adapter and braze to transmission pan. (Check to see that you do not have any leaks.) Step 6 Use Teflon Sealing Tape on the threads of the Temperature Sending Unit and screw securely into the Sending Unit Adapter. Step 7 We recommend using an 18 gauge wire from Temperature Sending Unit to the gauge. Step 8 Check pan gasket and replace it if necessary. (Pan gaskets are available from TCI®) Replace transmission pan on transmission. ALUMINUM TRANSMISSION PANS Step 1 Select a good location for Temperature Sending Unit. Step 2 Drill a 37/64" diameter hole into transmission pan. Step 3 Use a 3/8" x 18 NPT tap to thread hole in your aluminum transmission pan. Step 4 Clean transmission pan of any aluminum shavings. Step 5 Use Teflon Sealing Tape on the threads of the Temperature Sending Unit and tighten securely into the Sending Unit Adapter. (Check for leaks) Step 8 We recommend using a 18 gauge wire from the Temperature Sending Unit to the gauge. Step 7 Check Transmission pan gasket and replace if necessary. (Pan gaskets are available from TCI®) Replace transmission pan on transmission. After you have installed the Temperature Sending Unit into your transmission pan remember to replace the automatic transmission fluid. Select a mounting place to install your lighted TCI® Temperature Gauge. Using a hole saw cut a hole two inches in diameter. Be careful not to cut the hole too large. Secure the gauge into place using the mounting bracket supplied. The notched side of the bracket will fit under the light unit. The light unit will secure in place with a twisting motion.
